Wild Chardonnay 2021

$55

Cape Bernier is a family run vineyard located on the slopes of an ancient volcanic range, overlooking stunning Marion Bay on Tasmania’s east coast. The maritime climate and rich vineyard soils provide ideal growing conditions for cool climate varietals, particularly Chardonnay.

Made to showcase the terroir, our Chardonnays display characteristic honeysuckle and green apple flavours complemented by baked bread aromas from ageing in French oak, balanced by soft acids arising from Cape Bernier’s extended growing season. The vineyard consistently produces excellent Chardonnays with these noble beasts being among our most awarded wines.

Description

Handcrafted with ancient winemaking techniques, only the finest 2021 Chardonnay grapes were selected for this limited release. With only 50 cases, this wine was fermented with native, wild yeasts that occur naturally on the grape skins and aged in French oak for nine months. Our Wild Chardonnay offers rich, warm oaky flavours balanced by the subtle sweetness of honey, finishing with a hint of golden delicious apple. Resplendent with golden summery flavours, the Chardonnay is perfect on its own or paired with cheese and a touch of local Tasmanian honey. Drink now or cellar for up to 12 years.
