Gold Medal Winner & Top Tasmanian Chardonnay
A superb example of Tasmanian Chardonnay showing a complex bouquet of intense cool-climate characters, crisp acidity and silky mouth-feel. Pair with fresh local seafood, light pasta dishes and delicate vegetable dishes, or enjoy the unique flavours on their own. The wine was wild yeast barrel-fermented in multi-age French oak puncheons, together with extended cool temperature post-fermentation development. This vintage can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to four more years. The 2012 Cape Bernier Chardonnay is a standout amongst Tasmanian and Australian Chardonnay wines, being rated 95pts by Huon Hook and awarded Top Tasmanian Chardonnay by Winestate and a Gold Medal at the 2015 Tasmanian Wine Show.
Wild yeast barrel-fermented in multi-age French puncheons, with an extended cool temperature post-fermentation development for 9 months in barrel. The wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation. The mlf is a masterstroke, giving the wine great texture and mouthfeel, the pH still low, the total acidity perfect; pink grapefruit and white nectarine still rule the roost over the oak.
