Cape Bernier is a family run vineyard located on the slopes of an ancient volcanic range overlooking stunning Marion Bay on Tasmania’s east coast. The maritime climate and rich vineyard soils provide the ideal growing conditions for cool climate varietals, producing some of Tasmania’s finest Pinot Noir. This elegant, balanced wine has been open-vat fermented and matured for nine months in French oak. Black cherry & liquorice aromas are complemented by fine tannins and savoury spice flavours characteristic of the vineyard. Drink now or cellar for 3-5 years to enjoy its full potential.

2011 was a good year for Chardonnay at Cape Bernier and some of the very best grapes went into the 100% Chardonnay Blanc de Blanc. Combine this with a site that is somewhat cooler than most sites in Tasmania though also frost free due to the natural features of the local terrain and moderating effects the sea make for ideal sparkling wine growing conditions all wrapped up in this delicious Blanc de Blanc.
Fine bubbles, a creamy texture and crisp acidity showcasing cool climate chardonnay green apple fruit create a wine of elegance and finesse. Drink now or over the next 10 years.
The 2012 Cuvée Brut is a 70/30 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It is a deliciously crisp sparkling that required minimal dosage and is almost on the verge of being an Extra Brut sparkling (<6g/L dosage). It combines the very fine 2012 Chardonnay from the Cape Bernier vineyard along with some extra subtlety introduced by the Pinot Noir.

An elegant cool climate white wine
A superb example of cool-climate Chardonnay showing a complex bouquet of green apple and lime fruit characters, crisp acidity and a silky mouth feel. An exceptionally warm summer and late season rainfall for the 2016 vintage led to early ripening and big, juicy berries. The 2016 unwooded Chardonnay uses the finest quality hand picked clone 8027 grapes. The wine was made in a Chablis style and is the perfect accompaniment for fresh local seafood, light pasta dishes and delicate vegetable dishes.
